Kimihiro SAKAGAMI, Dr Eng
Kimihiro Sakagami graduated from the Department of Environmental Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Kobe University in 1987, and finished an MSc (Eng) in 1989. After finishing his MSc, he spent one and a half years as a doctoral candidate at the same university until he started his work as a research associate in 1990. He received his degree of Doctor of Engineering from Kobe University in 1993. He was a Visiting Research Fellow in Acoustics at the University of Bradford, UK, in 1997. He has been Professor in Environmental Acoustics since 2012.
Kimihiro is a member of the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ), Acoustical Society of Japan (ASJ), Acoustical Society of America (ASA) and the Institute of Noise Control Engineering Japan (INCE/J), for which he has worked as a member of the editorial board and several committees. He has received awards from AIJ and ASJ. He has been a member of the Editorial Board of Applied Acoustics since 2004, and has worked as a member of the Organising Committee for several international conferences.
His main research interest is acoustic properties of building materials, particularly non-porous sound absorbers including microperforated panels and their application. His recent work also includes large scale sound field analysis and control of structure-borne noise.

Hayato SATO, Dr Eng
Hayato Sato was born in 1977, and graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Tohoku University in 2000. In 2002, He finished MSc(Eng) at Tohoku University, and joined Kobe University as a Research Associate. He has been Associate Professor in Environmental Acoustics since 2013. He received his degree of Doctor of Engineering from Kobe University in 2008. He was a Visiting Scholar in Acoustics at the University of Sydney, AUS, in 2009.
He is a member of AIJ and ASJ. He received the award for young researchers from ASJ in 2007, the Itakura prize innovative young researcher award from ASJ in 2009, and the Sato prize paper award from ASJ in 2012.
His main interest is design of sound environment for
aged/hearing-impaired people in public spaces.
Professor Emeritus
Masayuki MORIMOTO, Dr Eng
Professor Morimoto was born in 1947. He graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Kobe University, in 1970. He joined Kobe University in 1970 as research assistant, and was promoted to research associate and associate professor, before appointment to be Professor of Environmental Acoustics. He was the Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering from 2007 to 2011. In 2012, he has retired from Kobe University.
Professor Morimoto is a member of several societies in Japan including the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ), Acoustical Society of Japan (ASJ), among which he was a Vice President of ASJ (1999-2001), and the President (2007-2009). Professor Morimoto is a Fellow of Acoustical Society of America (ASA). He received the encouragement award from Institute of Noise Control Engineering, Japan (INCE/J) in 1986, the prize for distinguished research in environmental acoustics from ASJ in 2010, and the Sato prize paper award from ASJ in 2012.
His main interest includes subjective evaluation of concert auditoria, sound localisation and assessment of sound environment in public spaces.
