・研究関心

低・中所得国における妊娠・出産をより安全にし、出産する女性、生まれてくる子ども、そして家族にとって、より良い経験にすることを研究課題としています。

妊娠・出産は生理的な過程ですが、時に合併症を伴うため、正常な経過から異常が生じた場合まで、幅広く対応する必要があります。その対応は、医学的な支援にとどまらず、次世代へ命をつなぐ人々や、その暮らしを支える社会への関わりでもあります。

公衆衛生に関わることは、単純には割り切れない「社会的存在」としての人間の課題に取り組むことです。そこに、国際保健学・公衆衛生学のおもしろさがあります。
